Walton School is located in the heart of the mighty Waikato. We are 8 minutes from Matamata, 35 minutes from Hamilton, and 45 minutes from Tauranga and Rotorua.
Our school caters for New Entrants through to Year 6. We have six classrooms, large multi-purpose room, playground, two large sandpits, swimming pool, double tennis courts, large playing field, and admin area.

We have great staff who are passionate about providing the best education for all of our children. We try to keep our class sizes as low as possible to allow students plenty of contact time with teachers. We have additional staff members (teacher aides) who support some of our students with their learning.

We believe we offer every student a great primary education where they will be challenged, provided with new learning opportunities and ultimately thrive as a learner. Students who leave our school for intermediate and beyond always look back at their time here fondly and positively.

Meet our Principal

Kia ora! Hello!

My name is Jeremy Kurth and I have the absolute privilege of being the Walton School Principal.

I am proud to say that our school has that good old country feel to it whilst still ensuring our kids are 21st century learners who are ready for an exciting tech-filled future.

Walton School's motto is to Stand Tall & Proud (Tu Maia, Tu Rangatira) which aligns with our school logo of a tall proud oak tree. To help the students achieve this we believe strongly in our school values of SPIRIT (see our values page for more about this)

As Walton Principal I believe in providing the best possible environment for our teachers to teach in and our students to learn in. I am very passionate about our excellent school and am committed to making it a place of excellence.

Ag Day Info

Here are a few details about the upcoming Ag Day, we will send some more reminders and info next week

The PTA hold a bake sale at Ag day, every family will get a plate sent home this Friday if you are able to contribute baking (sweet or savoury) it can be brought to school on Ag day
Create a pet entries to be brought to school on Monday, 21st Sept
We will setup for Ag day at 1:15pm on Wednesday, 23rd Sept. The more helpers we have the better!
Families can turn up from 9am on Thursday to setup, with judging starting at 10am sharp

Important Notice about speeches this morning!

Good morning,

Just to give you a bit of further clarity on the Speech Finals

The order is:

Year 4's
Year 5's
Lastly Y6's

Each has poems in between

We will be running through break times (morning tea). We are unable to give specific times, but expect to be finished by lunchtime.

If you are coming, please be mindful of entering the room between speeches, so children speaking aren't disrupted.

Information from Matamata Junior Cricket for any year 5 and 6 students who are interested:

For anyone who missed out on Sundays Muster, you’re still more than welcome to join us for open training this Wednesday 16th at 4pm - 5.30pm at Pohlen Park.
Hardball training for Years 5–8.
Want to join the team? Come along to training this Wednesday and get involved! New players are always welcome, bring a friend and give cricket a go! Also Interested in any parent help for Game days next term.
