Walton School is located in the heart of the mighty Waikato. We are 8 minutes from Matamata, 35 minutes from Hamilton, and 45 minutes from Tauranga and Rotorua.
Our school caters for New Entrants through to Year 6. We have six classrooms, large multi-purpose room, playground, two large sandpits, swimming pool, double tennis courts, large playing field, and admin area.

We have great staff who are passionate about providing the best education for all of our children. We try to keep our class sizes as low as possible to allow students plenty of contact time with teachers. We have additional staff members (teacher aides) who support some of our students with their learning.

We believe we offer every student a great primary education where they will be challenged, provided with new learning opportunities and ultimately thrive as a learner. Students who leave our school for intermediate and beyond always look back at their time here fondly and positively.

We'd love to see you become a part of the Walton Way.

Meet our Principal

Kia ora!  Hello!

My name is Jeremy Kurth and I have the absolute privilege of being the Walton School Principal.

I am proud to say that our school has that good old country feel to it whilst still ensuring our kids are 21st century learners who are ready for an exciting tech-filled future.

Walton School's motto is to Stand Tall & Proud (Tu Maia, Tu Rangatira) which aligns with our school logo of a tall proud oak tree. To help the students achieve this we believe strongly in our school values of SPIRIT (see our values page for more about this)

As Walton Principal I believe in providing the best possible environment for our teachers to teach in and our students to learn in. I am very passionate about our excellent school and am committed to making it a place of excellence.

If you want the best education for your child then I'd love to have the opportunity to show you around our school and have a chat to you about your child's exciting future with us :)

Kind regards,
Jeremy Kurth

CBG certificates at Grandparents Day (Morning 9am)
23 Apr 2026

We can't wait for tomorrow morning to welcome our grandparents and whanau into our school. We've got some fun things to share with you in the Marlow Room at 9am, and we'll also hand out the CBG certificates then.
Tamariki receiving certificates tomorrow morning are: Rm1 Alise Robinson, Rm2 Zedril Legan, Rm3 Mia Bungard, Rm4 Ava Patuwai, Rm5 Elliot Huband and Rm7 Maci Van Dam.

Due to this fun gathering in the morning, there will not be an assembly in the afternoon.

Bus communications
23 Apr 2026

Please make sure you let Mandy know your updated bus/car schedule for this term.  There are too many children unsure at the end of the day.

It's really important that you message the school on the days that there is a change - please don't just show up to the bus duty teacher, there is so much going on and early communication makes the process smoother

The best way to do that is by texting the school phone on 022 340 1936 BEFORE 2.30pm

Please also remember Mandy isn't in on Fridays - but if you send a text message it will be received and noted before the buses depart.  If Mandy is away, your email will not be seen.

Also, with sports coming up the children can be very unsure of their plan, especially when sports are cancelled.  So please ensure the children are clear on their travel plans.  A good way to remind them, is to write it on their hand - until they get familiar with their schedule.

School Sores
22 Apr 2026

A heads up that unfortunately school sores have appeared again with several children.

They are skin infections caused by bacteria, and can be spread between children very easily.

They often happen when the skin has already been damaged by a scratch, bite or condition such as eczema or chickenpox.

Here's some information if you notice any skin infections that aren't clearing up, which will require treatment...
