Walton School is located in the heart of the mighty Waikato. We are 8 minutes from Matamata, 35 minutes from Hamilton, and 45 minutes from Tauranga and Rotorua.
Our school caters for New Entrants through to Year 6. We have six classrooms, large multi-purpose room, playground, two large sandpits, swimming pool, double tennis courts, large playing field, and admin area.

We have great staff who are passionate about providing the best education for all of our children. We try to keep our class sizes as low as possible to allow students plenty of contact time with teachers. We have additional staff members (teacher aides) who support some of our students with their learning.

We believe we offer every student a great primary education where they will be challenged, provided with new learning opportunities and ultimately thrive as a learner. Students who leave our school for intermediate and beyond always look back at their time here fondly and positively.

Meet our Principal

Kia ora! Hello!

My name is Jeremy Kurth and I have the absolute privilege of being the Walton School Principal.

I am proud to say that our school has that good old country feel to it whilst still ensuring our kids are 21st century learners who are ready for an exciting tech-filled future.

Walton School's motto is to Stand Tall & Proud (Tu Maia, Tu Rangatira) which aligns with our school logo of a tall proud oak tree. To help the students achieve this we believe strongly in our school values of SPIRIT (see our values page for more about this)

As Walton Principal I believe in providing the best possible environment for our teachers to teach in and our students to learn in. I am very passionate about our excellent school and am committed to making it a place of excellence.

Whooping cough

There has been a case of 'whooping cough' in our community.

Here are some key points about whooping cough:

Whooping cough (pertussis) causes bouts of intense coughing and trouble breathing.
Each bout may last for 2 or 3 minutes. The cough may go on for 3 months.
Whooping cough spreads very easily from person to person.
Vaccination makes you less likely to get whooping cough and makes the illness milder if you do get it.

Please see your healthcare provider if you have these symptoms.

Reminder that we have our Matariki Celebration tomorrow - see attached notice to remind you of the details. We look forward to seeing those that can make it.

As such, there will be NO PIZZA tomorrow.

Bus changes today

1 Jul 2026

Today with SLC it is important to let us know if your child's transport has changed.

Please don't assume we know what's happening. Let Mandy know if your child is on "car" today instead of bus, to avoid any confusion.

Children will be in the Marlow Room after lunch, so if you arrive for SLC during school hours, please collect your child/ren from there.
