Walton School is located in the heart of the mighty Waikato. We are 8 minutes from Matamata, 35 minutes from Hamilton, and 45 minutes from Tauranga and Rotorua.
Our school caters for New Entrants through to Year 6. We have six classrooms, large multi-purpose room, playground, two large sandpits, swimming pool, double tennis courts, large playing field, and admin area.

We have great staff who are passionate about providing the best education for all of our children. We try to keep our class sizes as low as possible to allow students plenty of contact time with teachers. We have additional staff members (teacher aides) who support some of our students with their learning.

We believe we offer every student a great primary education where they will be challenged, provided with new learning opportunities and ultimately thrive as a learner. Students who leave our school for intermediate and beyond always look back at their time here fondly and positively.

Meet our Principal

Kia ora! Hello!

My name is Jeremy Kurth and I have the absolute privilege of being the Walton School Principal.

I am proud to say that our school has that good old country feel to it whilst still ensuring our kids are 21st century learners who are ready for an exciting tech-filled future.

Walton School's motto is to Stand Tall & Proud (Tu Maia, Tu Rangatira) which aligns with our school logo of a tall proud oak tree. To help the students achieve this we believe strongly in our school values of SPIRIT (see our values page for more about this)

As Walton Principal I believe in providing the best possible environment for our teachers to teach in and our students to learn in. I am very passionate about our excellent school and am committed to making it a place of excellence.

Firewise tomorrow-No Assembly

14 May 2026

Tomorrow, we have local firefighters coming in to lead Firewise class sessions. This will be exciting for the kids, and hopefully help them be more aware of what to do in the event of a fire.
Please note that, due to this, there will not be an assembly tomorrow.

Pies can be collected

The pies are in the Marlow room. All boxes are named - and sorted. You are welcome to collect now, or after school.

I haven't heard from anyone wanting their children to bring them home (looks like most orders are probably too much for the kids to transport anyway!)

Please make sure you pick up your pies - as I'm not in the office tomorrow, and hope to not arrive on Monday to see any left there.

Reminder that the Oxford Pies arrive today, so if you placed an order then please make sure you can collect them by the end of the school day.

We can package up the small orders for your child to transport home - just give Mandy a heads up if you'd like that to happen.

reminder: School Photo Orders

Reminder that all children came home with a printed QR code in their bags. You need this to order your child's photos.

Orders close Tuesday 19 May.
